Again, the weapon/item may be a useless trinket that shows prestige (beta CoH people were actually "shiny") but I'd like to know if its going to be a "pick a character to have the thingie" or if all 4 chars get one? More than likely the pick-a-char route.

Gaile has confirmed this also. Don't worry.. And yes, all characters get it. Even if you delete the character later, the new character you create will also have it. The items are connected to the account, not the characters. |

ya. I know that the aura is different according to professions, and that you only get it when the weapon is equipted, but will each different character get a different weapon/item, or will everyone get a sword, or will each profession get a different weapon?!
ps: I hope that each character gets a different aura item, that way, everyone gets a unique weapon. |

The aura isn't a "weapon." It should just be another piece of equipment that can be worn, or taken off. And since you know that the aura is different according to professions.. that would also imply that if you have all four characters with four different primary professions, then each character will have a different aura based on the profession. And.. there's nothing about "weapons" connected with the aura. A few of the preorder items, on the other hand, are weapons. The preorder items are different depending on where you preorder. However, if you preorder from EBgames, for example, and buy the CE, then ALL of your characters will have the bow. The aura will change depending on the character. |

FROM GW
Exclusive In-game Item, the ???Divine Aura??? Only an elite few gain the attention and favor of the gods, but those who do receive a celestial gift???a Divine Aura, a glowing visible token of their god???s blessing. When players purchase the Collector???s Edition of Guild Wars, each of their characters will receive this unique in-game item. Characters who equip the item are surrounded by a unique aura determined by the god who has bestowed it, and the item itself has a shape and color distinctive to that specific god. Once blessed by the gods, Divine Aura stays with a character; it cannot be traded or given to others. |

ya, umm, what exactly does divine aura do? Is it just there to make you look cooler than others? Does it amplify your classes skills (example-rangers get +5 on marksmanship)? Or does it constantly heal you or boost damage or something?

So, I wouldn't expect too much. I'm happy just with glowing. It's less a benefit, and more of a "this is my sign that I support ANet avidly" for me. And yes, I -am- an avid fan. EDIT: And yes, all of the benefits you listed are.. well, highly implausible, I'm sorry. There's no way that ANet would even think about adding most of those, since even I can see that it'll cause a huge balance issue. |

As for seeing better in crypts.. um.. everyone sees pretty well in dark caves already. The released version doesn't have many indoor/cavern areas (most notable being the ice caves in the Shiverpeaks and the catacombs in pre-searing).. and the devs have said that they're saving most "dungeon"-like areas for a later expansion. So no, you really don't need to be a walking lamp-post. And honestly, do you really want to have a glowing radius reminiscent of some huge firefly? A lot of people are afraid of the very opposite -- that it'll look tacky. (I personally can't wait to see it..) But on a purely rational level.. just think of that effect in Tombs. Hey! Target the glow-guy! KILL!! |

"We have come to bring thee light, all ye blasphemers of the Tombs!!" "Hey look at glow-boy over there.." "Wow.. pretty colors.." "BLASPHEMER! These mantles of light have been bestowed by the gods themselves! Prepare for thy absolute destruction as the rays of our glorious ---" ... "Wow.. even their corpses glow.." Disclaimer: I am in no way trying to convince others not to get the aura. I, in fact, will be glowing with the rest of the glow-boys/girls. And no, I don't talk like that normally.. geez.. And to bring a semblence of staying on topic.. I know that people were discussing PvE rewards.. especially aesthetic awards.. and with the WoW (Worlds at War, not War of Warcraft!) concept, with that special area that can be opened by the team hold HoH, I'm suspecting that we might get quite a few bragging rights. Well.. at least at first.. |
